Católica Global School of Law and Católica Lisbon School of Law are proud to announce the arrival of a new faculty member, Katarina Pijetlovic, who will be joining our ranks as Assistant Professor of Law. A prominent name in Sports Law, Katarina Pijetlovic is the author of the book "EU Sports Law and Breakaway Leagues in Football" (Springer, 2015), regularly contributing to academic journals and conferences on the topic. Prior to joining Católica, she worked as Reader in Sports Law at Manchester Law School and served as a sports law module leader at Liverpool University Football Industries MBA Programme.
“We are delighted to have Katarina Pijetlovic joining our faculty and academic community”, commented Dean Miguel Poiares Maduro on the new appointment. “Katarina is a leading scholar in Sports Law and Governance. Not only will she help consolidate Católica’s role as a top institution in that field, but she will also contribute to further enrich our intellectual community and teaching quality and diversity”.
In addition to her academic credentials, Katarina Pijetlovic is an Advisory Board Member at Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) and occasionally acts as a legal adviser for professional athletes and clubs.
Commenting on the reasons for her decision, Katarina highlighted Católica’s academic reputation and stellar faculty, its location in the city of Lisbon, and the opportunities to connect with the many guest speakers that regularly visit the school. She further mentioned that Dean Miguel Poiares Maduro “is one of the top academics in my favourite area of law and working with him is a privilege”.
