The Consumer Empowerment Project (CEP), an initiative powered by Euroconsumers and Google, has launched the 2024 edition of the ‘My Data is Mine’ Award which will be awarded to the best paper written by young scholars with an innovative approach to data protection issues and who can offer a visionary contribution to data exploitation in Europe and worldwide.

This fifth edition of the award – which will take place in Lisbon during the 2024 Web Summit – aims to stimulate academic research on the sustainable development of AI from a data protection perspective. The award is focused on innovative solutions, from both a regulatory and a technical perspective, that address the challenges of preserving privacy while still enabling the full potential of AI.

This year, Euroconsumers has created a specific prize for the best article written by students from Católica Global School of Law. The requirements to apply are as follows:

  • Applicants must be students of Católica Global School of Law (LL.M., MTL, Ph.D.), up to 35 years old;
  • Papers must be written in English and explore a topic at the intersection of AI and Data Protection;
  • Papers must have a minimum of 5.000 and maximum of 8.000 words.

Papers should be sent to hello@cep-project.org by September 30, 2024.

The winner will be awarded a monetary prize of 1.000 Euros and will have the chance to attend the Web Summit conference, which will be held in Lisbon, in November

The paper will also be published in the Data Protection Yearbook 2024.
