The European Law Moot Court is a prestigious competition that offers students a hands-on opportunity to engage with complex issues of European Union law in a format that closely resembles real litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Organised annually, the competition unfolds in three main stages:
(1) Submission of Written Pleadings – Each team submits two Written Pleadings: one for the Applicant and one for the Respondent. A panel of legal experts evaluates these submissions, and the scores determine which teams advance to the Regional Finals.
(2) Participation in the Regional Finals – Teams selected based on their written work are invited to one of four Regional Finals across Europe and beyond. During these rounds, students deliver oral pleadings before panels composed of academics, practitioners, and EU law specialists. Performance in the Regional Finals determines advancement to the Final Round.
(3) Participation in the All-European Final – The best teams from each Regional Final qualify for the All-European Final, traditionally held in Luxembourg. The final pleadings are presented before judges of the Court of Justice of the European Union, offering participants a unique and invaluable professional experience.
Students interested in participating must enrol in the seminar to be invited for an interview. The deadline for enrolment is 18 September 2025. Interviews will take place during the third week of September and will last 15 minutes each: the first 5 minutes will focus on the candidate’s motivation, and the remaining 10 minutes will concern the case. Further information will be provided before the interviews. Following the interviews, four students will be selected to represent Católica Global School of Law. The first team meeting will be held during the last week of September, marking the start of the preparation process and periodic coaching sessions.
