Michael Nietsch holds the Chair for Private Law, Company Law and Securities Regulation at EBS Law School in Wiesbaden, Germany. Previously Associate Professor at Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz (Centre for German and International Laws of Financial Services). Michael is also director of the Centre for Corporate Compliance at EBS Law School. His research and publications focus on liability of companies and their directors and officers. Certain emphasis lies on compliance violations and the boundaries of the business judgment rule. He also works extensively in the field of banking- and financial regulation. Main areas of interest are the prevention of market abuse and loan contracts. Increasing attention within the ambiance of financial markets regulation is given to sustainable finance and digital transformation. Michael is a frequent rapporteur to congresses and has taught nationally and internationally. His work includes numerous publications in German and English peer reviewed journals. He is a member to numerous associations of legal professionals and legal scholars and provides advice to regulators on a frequent basis.
