If you lead a startup that works on improving the operations of legal businesses and actors, with a focus on the common good, don’t miss out on this opportunity and apply to be one of the finalists of the Global Legal Tech Venture Days in Lisbon.

With the aim of promoting a positive use of technology in the legal environment, Católica Global School of Law and IE Law School have teamed up to launch the Lisbon edition of the Global Legal Tech Venture Days,within the framework of the Law Schools Global League and in partnership with Lexis Nexis and Vieira de Almeida. Taking place on May 2nd, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, this highly innovative competition aims at identifying and supporting startups that try to tackle key challenges faced by legal actors, whether private or public, so as to improve their operations and thereby furthering the cause of justice.

A group of selected legal tech startups will pitch short presentations before a panel of investors, entrepreneurs and legal tech experts, who will analyze the viability of the projects and select a winner. Confirmed participants include major technological companies such as Feedzai, Google, Microsoft and Outsystems, as well as leading law firms in the field Vieira de Almeida and CCA Law Firm. At the conclusion of the event, a networking cocktail will take place where participants will have the opportunity of meeting relevant players in the industry and discuss legal tech trends.

The winning startup of the Lisbon event will pass on to the final round and compete with the winners of the Legal Tech Venture Days of Bogotá and Madrid. The final event will be held on June 9th, 2022, at the South Summit, in Madrid, where the finalists will pitch their projects before a selected audience composed of investors, venture capital firms, mentors, and business pioneers (more information below).

Who can participate: To be eligible for the competition, startups must be:

• Already established, or in the process of being established;
• Innovative. This can take the form of a product/service, business model and/or route to the market, as long as it brings something new to the table;
• Scalable, with commercial potential on an international level and a scalable business model;
• Made up of a dream team with a mix of experience and relevant skills;
• Able to demonstrate clear appeal to a larger market.
