This seminar will provide a historical outline of the development of EU fundamental rights, explain the current situation, including the status, contents and relevance of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights (ECHR), discuss the relevance of the European Convention on Human Rights for EU fundamental rights and analyse the challenges of, and prospects for, EU accession to the Convention.
