Last week, Católica Global School of Law was represented at the Deans’ Meeting of the Law Schools Global League (LSGL). This summer’s meeting was hosted by Universidad de Los Andes, in Colombia, bringing together leading law schools from around the world to discuss pressing issues in legal education and research.
Our institution was represented by Dean Miguel Poiares Maduro and Executive Dean Tito Rendas, who actively participated in the discussions and contributed valuable insights. Their presence once again underscored Católica’s commitment to global collaboration in general, and to the LSGL project specifically.
The LSGL Deans’ Meeting serves as a vital platform for fostering international cooperation, sharing best practices, and addressing the evolving challenges faced by law schools globally. Among the issues discussed at this year’s event were students’ mental well-being in a post-pandemic world, as well as various schools’ initiatives regarding experiential learning, including moot courts and clinical legal education. Besides the Deans’ Meeting, the event also featured an LL.M. fair, where our Executive Dean had the chance to meet numerous Colombian students interested in pursuing their postgraduate education at Católica.
We look forward to implementing the innovative ideas and strategies discussed at the meeting to further enrich our academic programs and strengthen our partnerships with the LSGL member schools. The next meeting will take place in February 2025 at Edinburgh Law School, in Scotland.
