The Research Workshop is designed to guide Ph.D. students through the process of writing a doctoral thesis in law. The workshop is divided into four different parts, surveying key aspects of legal research to help students meet the demands of their own doctoral journey. Part I explores the fundamentals of doctoral research, from the identification of possible research questions to the preparation of the final oral examination. Each session will combine lecturing, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises, to ensure students develop the skills necessary to produce high-quality legal research. Part II is composed of three technical workshops dedicated to issues like legal databases and citation management. Part III features first-person reflections from CGSL faculty members on their own doctoral journey. Finally, the workshop ends with mock discussions of each student’s Ph.D. (pre-)project, in order to prepare them for the upcoming challenges in their doctoral path.
