E-Commerce Law and Digital Fairness

This course explores the legal landscape of conducting business online, focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the internet. We'll pay attention to fundamental topics essential for understanding the legal framework governing online commerce, from establishing an e-shop with domain names and other digital assets, to navigating various business models, advertising strategies, and the principles of digital fairness. A significant portion of the course will be dedicated to digital contracts, examining their general rules and specific considerations under consumer law, including issues related to digital content and portability. We'll also analyze the implications of geo-blocking and some of the intricacies of online payments. Finally, the course will address the critical role of digital identity and trust services in fostering secure and reliable online transactions. The aim is to equip students with the essential knowledge and a critical perspective to effectively address the current and future legal complexities of doing business in the global digital marketplace.
