The Executive Program in Advanced Patent Litigation and UPC is divided into 7 modules and 12 online classes, blending theoretical knowledge with practical application. Each module will include lectures, case studies, interactive debates, and assessments.

The start date of the Executive Program will be in January 2027 and the final mock trial week will be in June 2027.

Module I: Foundations of European Patent Litigation

Module II: Transatlantic Perspectives on Patent Litigation

Module III: Standard Essential Patent (SEP) Litigation
  • Fundamentals of SEPs and FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and  Non-Discriminatory) commitments
  • Offensive and defensive strategies in SEP litigation
  • Analysis of key SEP cases in Europe and the US
  • Role of competition law in SEP disputes
     
Module IV: Patent Litigation in Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices
  • Regulatory frameworks and their impact on patent litigation
  • Strategies for litigating pharma and biotech patents
  • Medical device patent litigation and infringement challenges
  • Case studies on high-profile litigation in pharma and medical devices 
     
Module V: Global Litigation Strategies
  • Offensive and defensive approaches to multi-jurisdictional patent disputes
  • Coordination of global litigation strategies
  • Patent assertion and defensive programs from an in-house perspective
  • Workshop: Designing a global patent litigation strategy
     
Module VI: Alternative dispute resolution (arbitration/mediation)
  • Arbitration and mediation in patent litigation
  • Setting up effective ADR arrangements in standard essential patent litigation and pharma
  • ADR and the Unified Patent Court
  • ADR strategies within multi-jurisdictional patent disputes from a US and European perspective
     
Module VII: Advanced Skills for Patent Litigators
