Big Data and the Law

2 ECTS / 12h / English

In this module, students will understand the interfaces between Law and Technology, encouraged to see the multiplicity of technological applications related to Big Data, specially related to Artificial Intelligence. Through collaborative teaching and supervised research and discussions, students will create interactional expertise in perceiving societal and constitutional impacts of new technologies and its effects on the individual and collective spheres.

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:

  1.  Reflect on technical developments in the sense of Responsible Innovation and Development.
     
  2. Recognize key legal aspects of Big Data and Law.
     
  3.  Carry out interdisciplinary collaborative work with other students.
     
  4.  Identify opportunities and risks in the use of new technologies.
     
  5. Produce suggestions for improvements to existing legal frameworks.
     
  6.  Identify the right compliance and address ethical and legal concerns.
