Damien Neven is Professor of Economics at the Graduate Institute in Geneva (emeritus) and visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Brugge.  He is also member of the Council-Vice President of Belgian Competition Authority.     He holds a Doctorate in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford.   He has acted as Chief Competition Economist at the European Commission from September 2006 to May 2011.  He has written extensively on industrial organization, economic integration and competition law and economics. He has acted as expert in high profile case in front of European as well as national courts.   His current research interests focus on enforcement on the pharmaceutical sector, enforcement in sports and Standard Essentials Patents (SEP). 

He holds Belgian and Swiss passports, speaks French and English fluently and has a passive knowledge of Flemish.   He is married with four adult children.  He enjoys outdoor activities in particular sailing, hiking and touring ski.
