The fundamental purpose of this course is to lead students to understand the sustainability (i.e. environmental, social and governance) reporting and due diligence duties and best practices emerging from EU law, according to the Directive (EU) 2022/2464 of 14 December 2022 (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive: CSRD) and to the Directive (EU) 2024/1760 of 13 June 2024 (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive: CSDDD) following the amendments introduced by the Omnibus I Directive.
The course is tailored to address compliance of ESG duties both from large multinational listed firms and Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standards (VSME) adoption from medium-size family firms.
As sustainability matters are prone to collective reflection and debate, this course attributes a high importance to oral discussions during live sessions. For that purpose, live sessions will be structured around board role-play exercises, to facilitate a practical understanding of the implications of ESG matters in corporate decision making.
