Since March 1 2023 Universidade Católica Portuguesa acts as Coordinator of the Fair MusE research project under the leadership of Principal Investigator Giuseppe Mazziotti, Abreu Professor in Law and Innovation at Catolica Global School of Law. Financed under the prestigious Horizon Europe program, Fair MusE aims to investigate and promote fairness for music creators and stakeholders from an interdisciplinary perspective. The primary end of this 3-year project is to produce evidence-based outcomes leading to a more transparent, competitive, and sustainable music ecosystem in Europe.

Within the scope of the HORIZON EUROPE project Fair MusE, this roundtable discussion aims to provide insights on streaming services and social media, highlighting the biggest challenges the platform economy has created for music right-holders, stakeholders, and users.

With the moderation of CGSL's Executive Dean Tito Rendas, some of Fair MusE’s research leaders in the fields of Law, Economics and Data Science will openly discuss the main challenges and the possible achievements of their project:

  • Marta Cantero Gamito, University of Tartu
  • Maria José Schmidt Kessen, Central European University
  • Giuseppe Mazziotti, Catolica Global School of Law, UCP
  • Heritiana Ranaivoson, Vrije Universiteit Brussel
  • Jannick Kirk Sørensen, Aalborg University

The conference will take place at the Lisbon campus of Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Entrance is free, but registration is required through the ONLINE FORM.
