Clara Martins Pereira

Clara Martins Pereira is a DPhil candidate in Law at the University of Oxford, where she is also a lecturer and tutor in Company Law. For her DPhil, she is working on algorithmic and high-frequency trading under the supervision of Professor Jennifer Payne. In addition to teaching and researching at Oxford, Clara is also a guest teacher in International Financial Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Clara holds a BA in Law and a Master’s in Law and Business from Católica School of Law (Lisbon), as well as a Magister Juris and an MPhil from the University of Oxford.
Before moving to Oxford, she was a Capital Markets lawyer at Portuguese law firm PLMJ, as well as a guest lecturer in Corporate Law at Católica.
Between 2016 and 2017, Clara was an Associate Editor at the Oxford Business Law Blog and, between 2016 and 2018, she was a Graduate Development Scholar at the University of Oxford's St. Anne's College. In 2017, she taught Corporate Law and Governance at the LSE Summer School and, more recently, she has been teaching Tort Law at a number of Oxford colleges. Since starting her DPhil, Clara has also acted as Research Assistant for various academics and projects, and she has held various visiting scholar positions (including, most recently, at Columbia Law School).
